Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said that the law and order in the state was in a shambles under the government. “The broad daylight murders and burglaries have become the order of the day. The peaceful life of the people is under threat. The secretary of the Malabar chamber of Commerce, Nazeer Ahammad was killed under mysterious circumstances,’’ he said.
In a statement here, he said the other day an aged woman at Kundara was brutally murdered after her gold ornaments were stolen.
In a house at Attingal, gold ornaments bought for wedding was stolen after thieves broke into the house. The laxity on the part of the police has paved the way for thieves and criminals to have a free run, he said.
