Subtly asserting the philosophical foundations of Hindutva, Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) said that a vibrant “unified Hindu society is the necessity of the whole world” in the present context.
Inaugurating the Bhaskar Rao Smaraka Mandiram at Elamakkara here on Sunday, the supreme chief of the RSS warned the Sangh Parivar members that intellectual and cultural maintenance of the core Hindutva ideology is more challenging than maintenance of the physical infrastructure built by Sangh.
In a carefully worded speech, he reiterated the need for a sophisticated and strategic propagation of core Hindutva values that will result in establishing a cultural hegemony. “The physical maintenance of infrastructure is comparatively easy. But the real challenge is the maintenance of core Hindu cultural values,” he pointed out.
Hinting that philosophies emanating from the West have largely failed to offer solutions to the different problems faced by the contemporary world, Bhagwat said that the “whole world is looking to Bharath and Hinduism.” He pointed out that Bharath can offer solutions to a world that is suffering from “lack of spirituality, lack of moral values and lack of ethics.”
G Madhavan Nair, former chairman of ISRO, in his presidential address pointed out that “the idea of Hindu unity is gaining momentum. “I am hearing a lot of complaints that Hindus are marginalised in the state. But the huge gathering of Hindus here as well as at the meeting organised by the VHP in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday shows that materialization of Hindu unity is not a distant dream,” he pointed out.
The veteran technocrat also asked the RSS to go to the villages and carefully study the problems of Indian villages. “Most of the rural areas are suffering from poverty. Educational facilities are also not good. Instead of waiting for the government to intervene, the Sangh should actively intervene in the realm of education. Intervention in education is a crucial component in the nation building,” he added.
Swami Bhadrashanantha Maharaj, head of Sree Ramakrishna Ashram, Vytilla, pointed out that Hindu unity cannot achieved without addressing the caste inequality that is existing in Indian society.
BJP leader O Rajagopal, writer M K Sanu, Bharatiya Vichara Kendram director P Parameswaran, Hindu Aikya Vedi president K P Sasikala and several religious leaders spoke on the occasion.
