Iranian film ‘Parviz’ directed by Majid Barzegar won the Golden Crow Pheasant Award at the 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) which concluded here on Friday.

While Kamaleswar Mukherjee, director of Bengali film ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’, bagged the Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best director, ‘Errata’ directed by Ivan Vescovo won the Silver Crow Pheasant for the best debut film.

The awards were distributed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at the closing ceremony held at Nishagandhi Auditorium, Kanakakunnu Palace.

The Golden Crow Pheasant for the best feature film carries a purse of Rs 15 lakh to be shared equally between the director and producer.

It was double delight for Ivan Vescovo and Kamaleswar Mukherjee as their films bagged awards in two different sections. ‘101 Chodyangal’ directed by Sidhartha Siva won the audience poll award for the best film.

‘Errata’ directed by Ivan Vescovo was adjudged the best film in the competition section by the International

Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI), while the FIPRESCI award for the best Malayalam movie went to ‘Kanyaka Talkies’, directed by K R Manoj.

‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award for the best Asian film in the competition category, while ‘C R No 89’ by P P Sudevan received the NETPAC award for the best Malayalam film.

Kairali and Sree Padmanabha bagged the awards in the theatre category. Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph presided over the function. South Korean filmmaker Kim Ki Duk and veteran actor Madhu were honoured by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
