The name of yet another film actor has surfaced in connection with the Solar Scam. The police have started probing the alleged links of actor Uthara Unni to the scam-accused, after a Kochi-based travel agency filed a complaint in this regard.
The Special Investigation Team probing the case will interrogate the actor.
The Ernakulam South Police registered an FIR following the complaint by travel agency, but the investigation will be carried out by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). According to the complaint, Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan furnished a cheque of `1.73 lakh after booking air tickets to Chennai and New Delhi. The cheque had later bounced. Uthara Unni was one of the passengers for whom the air tickets were booked, they said.
According to the SIT officials, the actor is not directly involved in the case. “She travelled with them only for advertisement photo shoots and is not directly linked with the scam. The police will interrogate Uthara Unni to find out whether she had travelled with Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha Nair to Chennai,” said police officials.
Police sources said the Facebook page in the name of Uthara Unni had a mention that she was the brand ambassador of Team Solar.
Speaking to a TV channel, Uthara’s mother and actor Urmila Unni denied reports that Uthara was Team Solar’s brand ambassador. She admitted that Uthara had acted as a model for Team Solar’s advertisements. It was for acting in an advertisement that she went to Chennai, where she’s studying, on the ticket taken by Team Solar.
