Putting an end to the debate over the entry of KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala into the Cabinet, at least for the time being, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday reiterated his stand that Chennithala, like in the past, continued to be not interested in joining the Cabinet. “The entire episode is a media creation,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, after a closed-door discussion with the KPCC chief at the Cliff House that lasted almost an hour, Chandy said Ramesh had turned down Cabinet berth two times in the past when he was invited to join the Cabinet.

“Ramesh has never expressed his willingness to join the Cabinet. I have told clearly earlier also that there is one post vacant in the Cabinet after the resignation of K B Ganesh Kumar. There is no need of a Cabinet reshuffle,” he said.

Just minutes before the CM’s address to the media, a sombre looking Chennithala coming out of the Cliff House put the ball squarely in the Chief Minister’s court. “We have discussed the Cabinet reshuffle in detail ,” he said.

When asked about the possibility of him joining the Cabinet, Ramesh was quick with his reply, “Chief Minister will explain to the media about our meeting, the Cabinet reshuffle and also about me joining the Cabinet,” he said.
