Ghazal singer Najmal Babu passes away

Renowned ghazal singer Najmal Babu died after prolonged illness at his residence at Vengara in Malappuram district, family sources said today.

Babu, 65, who passed away last night, had performed throughout the country.

Son of well-known playback singer Abdul Khader, Babu, once active in the ghazal circles of Kozhikode, was keeping away from stage performances for the last few years due to poor health. He is survived by a wife and two children.

The body will be kept at the town hall for music lovers to pay homage to the late singer and the funeral will be held in the evening.
