Four persons, who suffered serious injuries, have been rushed to the Kozhikode Baby Memorial Hospital while three others were taken to the Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital in Thalassery.

About 10 steel bombs have been recovered from the site.

"The incident occurred on an unoccupied land near a paddy field. We could not identify the political background of injured persons," Panur CI K N Dominic said. The four injured identified as Mohammed, Afsal, Munaveer and Jasi have been taken to the Kozhikode Baby Memorial Hospital.

Some victims lost their palms and even had their faces disfigured in the explosion. A police team led by Kannur SP is camping in the area.

Tension has been prevailing in the nearby Parad town also. Indian Union Muslim League and SDPI workers raised allegations against each other in this regard.
