Palmolein Case: VS moves SC

Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Saturday moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash the Kerala

Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Saturday moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash the Kerala High Court’s decision giving a clean chit to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the palmolein import case, and demanding further investigation into the case.

Achuthanandan also sought to dismiss the Vigilance probe report giving a clean chit to Chandy.

In his petition, the Opposition Leader said Chandy was the Finance Minister when the palmolein import case took place and his role should be probed.  Chandy was the 23rd witness in the case.

Achuthanandan approached the apex court following the state government’s decision on September 24 to approach the Thrissur Vigilance Court seeking withdrawal of the case. The government had decided to inform the same to the Vigilance court and the SC.
