It is Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who is very keen to make K B Ganesh Kumar a minister again, according to Government Chief Whip P C George.

Without precipitating the issue further, however, George also adhered to a common line here on Tuesday stating that whatever be the good or bad aspects with regard to the induction of Ganesh Kumar into the ministry, the Chief Minister himself should bear it.

Replying to queries of mediapersons here, George said that his opinion on this score at this juncture has no relevance.

“The UDF has directed the Chief Minister to take an appropriate decision on the induction of Ganesh into the cabinet,” he said.

He also said that as the leading partner of the UDF, the Congress should settle outstanding inner-party issues. Disunity in the Congress will create issues for the coalition partners also, he felt.  George didn’t forget to have a dig at Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, on the latter’s stand that he never handled the file related to the controversial IPS officer Tomin J Thachankari. “Then, is it the Fisheries Minister who had signed the file? None other than the Home Department is responsible for it. Whomsoever is protecting him are enemies of  the country. He should be stripped off his IPS and sent to jail. Granting him a promotion in service is akin to spitting at the face of the people,’’ George said.

Earlier, while inaugurating a commemoration meet of S Varadarajan Nair, the Chief Whip said that he had praised Pinarayi Vijayan the other day for his good performance while he held the post of Power Minister.

‘’I haven’t said that he was a good person. He is a person facing charges in the Lavalin case,’’ George said, explaining his stand that the right and wrong related to a person will be described accordingly.
