The LDF state committee has condemned the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Kannur. In a statement here on Monday, LDF made it clear that attacking the Chief Minister physically was not on its agenda.

The statement said that the general perception of the people is that the Chief Minister had played a serious role in the solar scam. The LDF had already made it clear that black flag demonstrations would be held against the Chief Minister. The LDF state committee said it had genuine doubt that it was a political gameplan to win sympathy for the beleaguered CM. The government has the duty to bring the real culprits to book. The statement said Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has made it clear that the stone was hurled at the Chief Minister from a group of people who had assembled there in the name of protecting the Chief Minister from LDF workers.

A high-level probe should be ordered to bring out the truth to dispel the mystery behind the attack, the statement said. While Congressmen across the state are unleashing violence using police, people’s representatives and MLAs are framed in fabricated cases, the statement alleged. But such efforts will not help save the CM who is under a cloud of suspicion in the solar case.

The CM’s former gunman Salimraj’s land grab worth `200 crore has also come under public domain. As the CM has facilitated all these frauds, he has no right to continue in power for another moment. The statement said LDF would continue with the peaceful stir till the CM resigns and order a judicial probe.
