'India faces internal,external threats'

BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao has said that the country’s internal and  external security are under serious threat.

Addressing a news conference here at the BJP state headquarters on Tuesday, Rao said  the serial bomb blasts during the Hunkar rally in Patna on Sunday was a glaring example of negligence and security lapse on the part of the Bihar Government led by Nithish Kumar.

‘’It is not one of the many incidents of this kind which occurred in the past.  Modiji’s rally was not held all of a sudden. Everybody was aware of it. There was a complete failure of security for the Hunkar rally at Gandhi Maidan in which BJP leaders and thousands of party workers  attended,’’ he said.

‘’There were no metal detectors to frisk  the thousands of people who entered  the venue of the rally. One of the bombs exploded just 100 metres away from the stage where Narendra Modi and other senior leaders were addressing the crowd,’’ he pointed out.

There are certain standard procedures and protocols to be followed (during the visit of a VVIP). ‘’But no securityexercise was held to sanitise the venue of the meet where thousands of party workers were expected to attend the rally,’’ he said.

The Intelligence Bureau had already passed on the information on October 1 that Indian Mujahideen modules were active in Patna. The casual approach to the security of a person placed on the category of intensive security cannot be tolerated, he said. If BJP leaders had discussed the issue (blast) during the meeting what would have been taken place? Not only the leaders but the people who were attending the rally behaved in a matured manner and this helped save the situation, he said.

He blamed the UPA Government for its failure in identifying and dismantling the terror modules across the country. He alerted the Kerala Government to take note of the subversive activities in the state.
