THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government on Thursday issued orders sanctioning additional Plus Two batches in government and aided schools.

The Cabinet had last week cleared a list of 700 new batches in the schools to address the increasing demand for Plus Two seats.

Though the decision was taken in the last week’s Cabinet meeting, the formal order was delayed due to frequent holidays in between.

As per the order, 43 government schools and 88 aided schools in 131 panchayats will be upgraded to higher secondary schools.

Ninety-five high schools (18 government and 77 aided) from Ernakulam to Kasargod would be upgraded and 143 batches to be provided.

82 Batches

Eighty-two additional batches will be provided in 81 government higher secondary schools and 344 batches in 319 aided higher secondary schools, which comes to a total of 426 new batches, the order said.

The schools have to ensure that there are at least 40 students in each batch in 2014-15 and 50 students in 2015-16.
