Avoid trash Fish: Fisheries DepT

KOCHI: Fishermen have been warned by the Fisheries Department to not catch trash fishes which get caught in the trawling nets. Officials with the Fisheries Department said that the warning was given in the wake of reports that several boats were catching small and trash fishes, not consumed by humans, for preparing fodder for poultry in Mangalore. A notice was issued to all the boat owners in the district the other day.“The predatory fishes in the seas prey on these trash fishes. If these fishes are netted, then predatory fishes will start hunting fishes that are consumed by humans. free,” Paramashewaran T P, assistant director of Fisheries Department  said.
