Call for Greater Role of Coop Society in Health Sector

KAKKANAD:  In the wake of rising demand for setting up hospitals, the co-operative society can play a key role in the health sector, said Excise Minister K Babu after inaugurating the 15th anniversary of the Thrikkakara Municipal Co-operaive Hospital here on Thursday.

“While considering the present condition of rising number of patients, the government hospitals cannot cater to the needs of all patients. The gap can be filled if cooperative hospitals come to the fore by providing cost effective and quality treatment for the public,” said K Babu.

He said the cooperative sector has achieved greater heights in all fields, including the health sector.

Former Finance Minister Thomas Isaac inaugurated a seminar on ‘the relevance of public policy and the need to increase public spending in cooperative sector.’  Thrikkakara municipal chairman Shaji Vazhakkala among others was present.
