Normal Rain in Kollam

KOLLAM: Rainfall in the district is said to be normal with Punalur recording the maximum rainfall of 6 cm.Apart from minor incidents of trees falling owing to strong winds, no untoward incidents were reported.

According to the National Calamity Office here, no major casualties had been reported so far. In Pathanapuram, a giant tree in front of the police station was uprooted and in Eravipuram electric lines were damaged when a coconut tree fell on them.

Aryankavu recorded a rainfall of 4 cm, while the city and Thenmala region recorded 3 cm each of rainfall. Some fishermen ventured into the sea defying the Meteorological Department’s warning that strong onshore winds from westerly direction with speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph are likely along Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area during the next 24 hours.
