Rail Tragedy Averted in Kollam

KOLLAM: A key-man of the Railways averted a tragedy when he stopped Mumbai-bound Jayanthi Janatha Express at Kilikollur after seeing a gap on the rail tracks.

The train which came at 11.40 am was allowed to pass only after  a section engineer came and used clamps as a temporary fix on the track.

Trains passing through this track were allowed only to pass at 20 kmph at the spot.

According to Railways, the welding work will be carried out on Sunday.

It also said that such gaps can occur during rains and has ruled out any sabotage attempt.
