CPI Leader V Unnikrishnan Passes Away

MALAPPURAM: V Unnikrishnan, LDF Malappuram district convener and former CPI district secretary, passed away on Tuesday morning. He had been undergoing treatment for lung cancer in a private hospital in Kozhikode. Unnikrishnan entered politics in the 1960s and worked hard for the growth of the Communist Party in Tirur region.

He was the CPI district secretary since 2001, a post which he held for 10 years, and the LDF district convener for the past eight years.

The body was brought to the CPI office here where members of different political parties and the public paid last respects to the communist veteran. The cremation was held on the premises of his  residence at Ozhur near Tanur.
