High-Level Meeting to Discuss Ebola

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The State Government will convene a high-level meeting on Monday to discuss ways to step up vigil against the Ebola haemorrhagic fever, Health Minister V S Sivakumar said on Sunday. Steps have been taken to examine people arriving in the state from West African countries who are suspected of having the fever, the Minister said. But, there was no need for concern regarding the possibility of an outbreak in Kerala, he added. The fever spreads only through close contact with a patient. It does not spread through air or mosquitoes. The State Government is closely following the guidelines issued by the Centre for adopting precautionary measures, Sivakumar said, adding that Monday’s high-level meet will discuss measures to stepup the vigil.
