Ousted Dist Secy Blames Panniyan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Sacked CPI district secretary Venjarammoodu Sasi on Sunday said that the state secretary Panniyan Ravindran’s claim that he was unaware of the poll accounts was a blatant lie and alleged that the party’s district Lok Sabha seat election committee received `1.87 crore from Bennet Abraham.

Sasi, who was relegated to the district council on Saturday, said Panniyan was responsible for Bennet’s candidature and the subsequent debacle. “Panniyan showed extra keenness on Bennet Abraham’s candidature. He should resign from the post if he had any sense of morality left,” Sasi said.

Sasi said the allegation of leaking party information to the media made against him, would suit Panniyan the best. “In that case, action should be taken against several state leaders including Panniyan, who has a craving for media attention,” he said.

Sasi said Panniyan was thoroughly incompetent for the post. “Panniyan cannot take decisions of his own. He is an admirer of football and cinema, but not fit for the party secretary post,” he said. Sasi alleged that leaders Kanam Rajendran and Prakash Babu shared a vendetta against him and Panniyan acted upon their whims. CPI leader P Ramchandran Nair said the action against him was under the influence of some leaders. “This is an injustice which I cannot accept. I would approach the control commission,” he said.
