Tryst With Time

ALUVA: The efforts to tame ‘time’ by Aluva municipal authorities always make headlines. There was a hue and cry to repair the clock at the Clock Tower building near the private bus stand.

When the demand turned into an agitation the authorities simply removed the clock. Now it is said that an automatic clock will be put up there within a month. “The existing clock could not be repaired. A new automatic clock will be replaced soon,” municipal chairman M T Jacob said.

The latest in the list of the municipalitie’s encounter with time was when the budget was presented in the Council. Citing computer problems, vice-chairperson Lissy Abraham, who has over a decade of experience as councillor, took photocopies of the budget booklet and distributed them instead of printed copies which took two days.
