KOCHI: The Land Revenue Commissioner has suspended the additional tahsildar of Paravoor taluk, pending inquiry on a complaint that he introduced changes to government records to facilitate the filling of agricultural land of 0.723 hectares in the Kadungalloor village.
The action was initiated against additional tahsildar John on a complaint filed by social activist N Ramachandran. The Deputy Collector of Vigilance, Central Zone, had conducted a primary investigation into the allegation and John was found guilty. The Land Revenue Commissioner, in the order, observed that John ‘misused official power and obstructed government procedure’.
The allegation against John is that he misinterpreted a High Court order to change the category of the land, and thereby facilitated its reclamation.
