KOCHI: Three boats plying on the Ernakulam-Fort Kochi route suffered technical glitches on Wednesday morning owing to engine troubles. The passengers in the boats, operated by the Kerala State Water Transport Department (KSWTD), were left in the lurch as the boats stopped midway.

Faulty Pump

KSWTD officials said that the engine developed trouble after air entered into the pump. Also, the frequent tangling of plastic and other waste in the engine was another issue.

“Waste gets entangled in the engine often. Our drivers are forced to remove the waste from the engine and later kick start it all over again. On Wednesday, two other boats developed similar snags here,” the officials added.
