KOZHIKODE: Eighteen years ago, Italian car manufacturer Fiat stunned Indian driving freaks with its supermini car Palio. With regular upgrades on Palio and with pleasing customer service tactics, Fiat maintained an admirable position in the Indian automobile industry.

When the rivals started to conquer the fast-paced market with new upgrades and timely breeds, Fiat also shot back with its two new launches - Punto and Linea.

The Italian sleek design of Punto stole many hearts and it marked its name in the premium hatchback model category. Of course, Linea may have been the cool sedan that brought the Italian affluence back, but Punto was just awesome in winning hearts. It is this love for Punto that led Fiat to come up with an evolved Punto.

Style, comfort and performance are the three words that can describe the new Punto Evo. Talking about style, the new Punto Evo has its eyes on what lies ahead, that it comes with  entirely different reindeer headlamps that increase the range of visibility. Also the intricate chroma detailing from the grille to the number plate not only provides a streamlined appearance to the machine, but also makes it stand out in a crowd. The front indicators are attached with mirrors which make the followers careful about turns. The interiors are designed to give a premium look. It offers much more compared to the older versions, like sexy curvilinear dashboard with sleek push buttons, ambient lighting, smart controls along with USB and AUX inputs placed within easy reach.

The engine part is the same as that of its previous versions with the award-winning Multijet engine for the diesel version and FIRE type engine for the petrol version. Punto Evo ensures best-in-class ground clearance of 195 mm and this takes it a step ahead of its rivals. In terms of performance and handling, the solid design makes you  negotiate sharp turns with ease. “Earlier, we had faced some problems with our service part. But today, we ensure better service facilities by following the 3s facility, that is the service, sales and spares. Moreover, this year we are aiming at a total market share of 5 per cent in this particular Punto Evo segment,” says Abeesh A K, Sales Manager, KVR Motor Cars Pvt Ltd.

“Compared to other vehicles of its class, Fiat offers smooth handling and stability, five years' warranty, 15,000 km service interval on the new Punto and it will definitely make this model a big success,” he adds.

Punto Evo is available in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol version offers 1.2 L and 1.4 L variants, whereas the diesel version offers 1.3 L and 1.3L 90 HP variants. The ex-showroom price for the petrol 1.2 L version is `4.65 lakh, the price for the 1.4 L petrol version is around `6.30 lakh and that for the disel version is `5.30 lakh.
