KAKKANAD: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD)has come up with a novel idea to make the details of private buses available on mobile phones, with the help of a new mobile phone application (App).
“Once the application is launched, the timings and route details of private buses will be available on handheld gadgets like mobile phones. The application will also facilitate filing of complaints regarding private buses.
The project was launched following reports of a sharp increase in accidents in the city in recent months,” said Ernakulam RTO B J Antony.The mobile application will provide all the details pertaining to private buses, including timings, routes, travel distance, number and location. The Department is planning to launch the project on the android platform initially, and then to move on to windows, blackberry and apple. “A significant number of traffic violations are taking place in and around the city, but most of them go unreported. The new application is expected to be launched within three months,” Antony added.
