Auto, Taxi Strike from September 11

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Around 10 lakh autorickshaw and taxi drivers in the state will go on an indefinite strike from September 11 onwards seeking fare revision. The autorickshaw-taxi workers coordination committee leaders gave the strike notice to the Chief Minister and Transport and Labour ministers on Wednesday.  The strike is in protest against the non-revision of autorickshaw and taxi fares.

“The government during discussions with union leaders in June had consented to revise the fares even if the Ramachandran Commission appointed to study on the fare revision did not submit report before July 31.

But so far no action has been taken in this regard,” Auto Taxi Workers Federation  general secretary K V Haridas said. Kerala State Auto-Taxi Workers Federation (CITU) president Kadakampally Surendran, general secretary K V Haridas, BMS Federation general secretary A C Krishnan, among others, were in the delegation which met the CM and ministers.
