Gathering of Medical Research Community

KOZHIKODE: The MIMS Research Foundation, a non-profit organisation under Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, is organising a research community gathering named 'MeDITIP 2014' on August 29 and 30 at Gateway Hotel. ‘Medical Innovation - Translating ideas to practice' is the theme of this conference. INOVUST, an emerging medical technology development and consulting firm, has joined hands with MIMS Research Foundation for this conference.

"MeDITIP-2014 will bring together a group of eminent scientists, engineers, physicians, business experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs and industry representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities in translating Medical Device Innovations into practice in India," said MIMS Research Foundation director Dr Karthikeya Varma at a press conference here on Thursday.

The conference is intended to generate a comprehensive report on the current status of medical device development and commercialisation in the Indian context and will give recommendations for building the foundations of an ecosystem that will nurture technological innovations in India, he said.

The function will be inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Dr T Ramaswamy. Padma Shree Dr Azad Moopan will preside over the function. Dr K Mohandas (former Vice-Chancellor, Kerala) will deliver the keynote Address. MIMS managing director Dr Abdulla Cheryakkat also participated in the press meet.
