Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor, who was found dead on Friday in New Delhi, possibly underwent a surgical procedure, which involved use of anaesthesia, on Tuesday. During an interaction with students of Kansas University here on Tuesday afternoon, Tharoor’s phone rang.
The Union Minister who was in the midst of answering the last question on whether more community colleges will be opened, said : “My wife is just recovering from anaesthesia. So it might be a good moment to say if the answer is yes to all the above (questions).”
In the joint statement issued on Thursday also Tharoor had confirmed the same.
Sunanda was reportedly undergoing treatment for Tuberculosis (TB) and other serious illnesses. Besides, she had also been said to be under medication for managing stress for the last few months. According to sources in KIMS Hospital here, Sunanda had come to the hospital last Monday and Tuesday for general consultation. However, they did not divulge more details in this regard.
Sources close to Tharoor, however, told that Sunanda was brought from Dubai and took her to the hospital here for treatment.
