e-gram generates real-time analytics on population, literacy rate, male- female ratio, poverty threshold, Internet availability, access to electricity (percentage), access to clean water (percentage), healthcare and many more. e-gram’s objective is to make panchayats more efficient, transparent and symbol of modernity by leveraging Information and Communication Technology at the cutting edge level.
It also ensures transparency and accountability in their functioning through disclosure of information, social audit, efficient delivery of services and improving internal processes and management of panchayats.
According to Alok Babu, our grama panchayats had little access to these data saved electronically and it was hard to maintain and analyse data stored in papers. e-gram’s built-in algorithms to search and analyse data will help decisionmaking in panchayats quick, especially in budgeting and allotting resources to various sectors. The project also has the facility to send SMS which helps to communicate with the people faster than ever for announcements and reminders on tax dues. e-gram supports regional languages which helps to communicate transcending language barriers.
