KAKKANAD: The District Panchayat is implementing ‘Barrier Free’ project to make the district friendly for the elderly and the differently abled. The project was launched in ‘Namami’ a programme organised by the District Panchayat as a part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Monday.
The basic objective of the project is to make the facilities in all offices and public places and all transport systems user friendly for the elderly and the differently abled. The project would bring to notice of the public and authorities the problems faced by the elderly and the differently people.
Former Speaker P P Thankachan launched the project. Simon George, chairman Prathyasa Foundation inaugurated the functioning of the ramp at the District Panchayat hall made for the differently abled. Praveen G Pai spoke on old age problems.
