KOCHI: “The issue is not whether Malayalam is a classical language or not, but whether it has become the inner beat of Keralites,” said senior RSS Pracharak R Hari on Sunday. He was speaking at Puthiyakavu Temple on the occasion of a function held for the promotion campaign of Thapasya Cultural pilgrimage. “It is the language that carries culture and it was found that culture and life change with change in language,” he said.
According to Hari, the aim of Thapasya was to shake away the ghost of slavery brought about by the British rule. Malayalis nowadays think in English and write Sanskrit and Malayalam in English. This has to change,” he said. Proverbs in Malayalam shows the culture, geography and life here. “Motherland is the platform of language and culture. Compared to Christianity and Islam, Hinduism considers the whole Earth sacred. Hindus cannot observe their religion without the devotion to the Earth,” he said.
The cultural pilgrimage by Thapasya was to bring this aspect to daily life. The aim of this pilgrimage was to lift the social life through the fountain of goodness, said Hari. Tapasya Pilgrimage council chairman N Balamurali presided over the function inaugurated by dancer Draupadi Praveen.
During the function Padmashri award winner Narayana Purushothama Mallaya was felicitated.
