THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Including Antony Raju, party state general secretary and George’s bitter critic, a three-member panel was constituted by the KC(M) steering committee meet held in Kochi to look into the scope of disqualifying the assembly membership of George, though the move was presented in a laced manner like his acts of omission and opposition. Party general secretary Joy Abraham MP and Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan are the other members in the panel.
The steering committee had upheld the recent disciplinary action initiated against George, suspending him from all party posts.
KC(M) high power committee is slated for June 30 to take a decision on George, which is the same day when the Aruvikkara bypoll results will be out.
It is understood that the KC(M) assessment is that the ACDF candidate’s score in the polls is likely to remain very low. Even then, any mileage which may go to George will be diminished by calculated moves for ousting him from the assembly and party at one go. The move is to approach the speaker with adequate evidence to establish that he had quit the party on his own and is indulging in activities opposing the outfit and UDF government, which are reasons enough for his disqualification. The three-member panel is already into the job of collecting evidence.
