THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Soon, students accessing their school textbooks online will be able to get assistance on select portions through audio-visual aids, including presentations by noted personalities.
‘Digital Collaborative Text Book’, designed by IT@School, has been introduced with the objective of making e-text books more interesting and informative for the students.
For instance, a portion on Alzheimer’s disease in the the e-text book will have an audio-video clipping featuring actor Mohanalal. The actor will explain various aspects of the disease, based on his experience while essaying the role of an Alzheimer’s patient in a movie.
A portion on organ donation will have noted industrialist Kochouseph Chittilapilly, who donated one of his kidneys to an ailing patient, explaining its importance. Former ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair will also be a part of the online text book in a portion dealing with research.“This feature has been currently introduced in the Class X textbook. We plan to extend it to all textbooks soon,” says K P Noufal, Executive Director, IT@School.
The online version of all the textbooks in the state syllabus are available on the website www.dct.kerala.gov.
