THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will convene a high-level meeting on Monday to discuss the implementation of phase two of Operation Kubera, the special drive against illegal money lenders.
The meeting will be held at the Minister’s chamber at 9.30 am. The meeting has been called in the backdrop of the suicide of a person in Alappuzha, allegedly owing to the threat from ‘blade’ mafia.Chennithala had visited the residence of the victim.
The Minister’s office said that Operation Kubera was successful in clamping down on loan sharks. “However, there are reports that illegal money lenders are attempting a comeback,” an official statement said.
