THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob on Sunday alleged that Kerala Congress (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai had approached him for an out-of-the-way appointment to the Consumers’ Forum.

Anoop levelled the charge against Pillai in a Facebook post following the corruption allegations made against him ahead of the Aruvikkara bypoll. Anoop said he had evidence of Pillai’s attempts to influence him. According to Anoop, Pillai and his younger daughter had approached him seeking an illegal appointment to the Consumer Forum. Anoop also hit out at Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan saying that a Vigilance case had been filed against his son V A Arun Kumar. “I want to make one thing clear. Not a single case or FIR has been registered against me. A primary probe had been launched against me on the basis of cases cooked-up by certain outside forces when I did not yield to their demands,” he said.
