IDUKKI: A middle-aged nun was found dead in a well at her convent compound at Elappara panchayat in Vagamon on Tuesday. Sr Lisa Maria of St Theresa’s Convent at Ulupuni ward of Elappara was missing for the morning prayers at the chapel at 5.30 am. Her room was locked from outside and some of her convent inmates found her sandals beside the well, around 100 metres away from the convent. They spotted her lying dead in the well.
A teacher at St Thomas Higher Secondary School at Pullikkanam, Sr Lisa Maria was last seen for the 10 pm prayers on Monday. Sr Lisa Maria, of Aroocheriyil House at Eettakkanam of Upputhara, was said to be undergoing treatment for depression, fuelling doubts of a suicide. She moved to the Ulupuni convent from Vagamon convent a few months ago.Meanwhile, Peermade CI Manoj Kumar PV said that they have filed a case for unnatural death and that the exact cause of death could be confirmed only after they receive the postmortem report. The body was recovered from the well, having 20 ft depth and 10 ft water, in the presence of her two brothers by the Vagamon Police with the help of the Fire Force, and later the body was sent to Kottayam MCH.
