THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The valedictory function of the Samatwa Munnetta Yatra turned out to be a show of strength by the SNDP Yogam. Tens of thousands of people from different districts attended the meeting, braving the brief shower after the meeting began.
The grand stage had a seating capacity of 700 and the leaders occupied their seats around 3.20 pm. The ‘bhadradeepam’ was lighted around 3.30 pm. ISRO former chief and yatra patron Madhavan Nair’s felicitation message was read out at the function.
Despite arrangements by the city police, the the traffic on the route was blocked for at least three hours after the meeting. The traffic snarl extended from Sangumugham till Chackai.
