Modi to Arrive Today; Invitation Row Between Congress-BJP Escalates

THRISSUR: Making his first public appearance in the state as the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will address a BJP public meeting at Thekkinkad Maidan on Monday. The  Special Protection Group(SPG) has made a strong security cover around the arena. 

According to police, around 2000 officers headed by 5 SPs, 16 DySPs, 35 CIs and 165 Sis will further boost the security.

Nearly two lakh people are expected to attend the public meeting, BJP top brass said. Meanwhile, as per an SPG request the stage had been shifted from its proposed location at the Southern tower of Vadakkumnathan temple to Naikkanal. Prominent religious leaders like Thrissur Archbishop Andrews Thazhath and Kodungallur Cheraman Masjid Maulvi have also been invited to the function. In the wake of the PM’s visit, traffic restrictions have been set at several points.
