Amrita Varsity to Host 'Olympics of Programming'

KOLLAM:  Amrita University is hosting the prestigious ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), ‘Olympics of Programming’, from December 19 to 21. Three hundred members from over 240 institutes including IITs, IIIT and NITs will participate in the Regional contest at Amritapuri, Coimbatore and Bengaluru campuses.

The event is being held for the 11th consecutive year.

The participants were selected from over 1,500 teams that participated in the preliminary rounds held in October. The top three teams from this competition will participate in the world finals in Thailand to be held in May 2016.

Amrita University, IIT Rourkee and IIIT Hyderabad were finalists from India in the previous ICPC 2015 held in Morocco.

Bill Poucher, Director, ICPC and Jeff Donahoo, World Finals Director, ICPC will be the chief guests for this year’s contest.

Dinesh Garg, Research Scientist at IBM will deliver the keynote address during the inaugural session on December 20.
