Thanka Anki Procession Begins

SABARIMALA:  The four-day procession carrying the Thanka Anki, the attire in gold to be adorned on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Mandala Pooja on December 27, began from Aranmula Lord Parthasarathi temple on Wednesday.

The specially-built vehicle carrying the Thanka Anki set off after lighting the traditional lamp kept in the carriage by the melsanthi of the temple at 7 am.

Assistant commandant of the Pathanamthitta AR camp Anil Kumar led the security cover.

The procession was given reception at Punnamthottam temple, Pampadimon, Thekkemala, Elanthur, Prakkanam and Elavumthitta before the first day’s halt at Omallur Sree Rakthakandaswami temple.

On the second day, the procession will be given reception at Kodunthara Sree Subramaniyamswami temple, Pathanamthitta Sree Dharma Sastha temple, Kumbazha, Elakollur and Vettur Sree Maha Vishnu temple before halting at Konni Muringamangalam Sree Mahadeva temple.

The following day, the procession will be accorded reception at Vettur Sree Ayiravillan temple, Malayalappuzha Devi temple, Kadmmanitta Bhagavathi temple, Mekozhur Sree Rishikesa temple, Vadasserikara Prayar temple and Madamon Rishikesa temple before halting at Perunad Sree Dharma Sastha temple.

On the concluding day, the procession will be given receptions at Koonankara Sabari Saranashramam, Laha, Plappally and Nilackal Sree Mahadeva temple before reachingPampa Lord Ganapathi temple. The procession will reach Sannidhanam at 6.20 pm where Travancore Devasom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan, member Ajay Tharayil  and devaswom commissioner Ramaraja Prema Prasad will receive the procession.
