No Role in Presentation of Lalisom, Says Rajeev Kumar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Amid controversies regarding the poor performance of ‘Lalisom - the Lal effect’ in the form of ‘Lalisom - India Singing’, noted director and show director of the inaugural of the National Games T K Rajeev Kumar said that Lalisom was an independent show and not staged under his direction.

“Though I was in charge of the stage show, ‘Lalisom - India Singing’ was not conceived by me. It was an independent show of the Lalisom band which has musician Ratheesh Vega as the coordinator. The cultural show performed there was in fact staged under my direction,” Rajeev Kumar told ‘Express’.

“I was assigned to direct the cultural event in both inaugural and closing ceremonies.

The dance forms and the Kunhali Marikkar show with Mohanlal were the performances staged under my direction,” he said.

According to the director, his only connection with the Lalisom was that the video, which was screened amid the songs, was shot by him.

“The video clips portraying Mohanlal addressing the audience were shot by myself.

In fact, it was not directly linked with the final performance,” said Rajeev Kumar, who is currently busy with the arrangements for the cultural performances for the closing ceremony.

He said the closing ceremony will have  various dance forms from all the states.

“Actress Shobhana will lead the performances and music director Shareth will recompose the songs which are to be used as background for the show,” he said.
