Lalisom: Explanation to be Sought from Technical Panel

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  In response to the allegations against the concert by Lalisom band during the National Games inaugural, Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said here on Monday that the government would seek an explanation from the ‘technical committee’ which recommended the selection of the band.

Speaking to journalists here, Thiruvanchoor said that a ‘technical committee’ chaired by film director Priyadarshan recommended the selection of Lalisom band.

Meanwhile, he refrained from making any comments on the show by Lalisom band.

"I am not an artist and hence, it will be not correct to make any statement about it at present.

"Many people have criticised the performance by Lalisom band. I am leaving it to him (Mohanlal) to give a reply,’’  Thiruvanchoor said.

Explaining the criteria for of selecting the band, he said that Lalisom was less expensive compared to other bands which demanded exorbitant rates for staging the show.

‘’Anyhow, this is not the correct time to think if we should have avoided Lalisom show,’’ the Minister said.

Later, he said that he had received communication from Mohanlal regarding the repayment of the reward given for the Lalisom show. ‘’We will consider his offer,’’ he said.

Murali Not to Quit as Chairman

T’Puram: K Muraleedharan MLA, decided not to quit as the chairman of the National Games accreditation committee on Monday, but said that the public was misled on Mohanlal’s ‘Lalisom,’ which had kicked up a row after the performance did not rise up to the expectation.
