Rowing Venue Gets a Makeover

ALAPPUZHA: Preparations are progressing at the Vembanad lake for the canoeing and kayaking competitions as part of the National Games, which will begin on February 9.

The organisers have started the reconstruction of the race course which was built for the rowing competitions. The same venue and race course will be used for canoeing and kayaking.

However, the length of the track will be reduced to 1,000 meter.According to canoeing and kayaking federation state secretary D Vijayakumar, the competitions will be organised in three categories such as 1,000m, 500m and 200m.

The teams have reached the venue and have begun training in the lake.
