ALAPPUZHA (KERALA):The CPM central leadership is against removing V S Achuthanandan from the party state committee. The CPM politburo members, including its general secretary Prakash Karat, are also not in favour of any disciplinary action against the veteran leader before the  culmination of the party congress scheduled to be held in April.

Some central leaders who met here on Friday have reportedly expressed their displeasure at the state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan’s decision to approach the media and release the resolution adopted against VS on the eve of the party conference.

“It should have been avoided as it was improper and untimely,” was the response of a PB member, said a state committee member close to VS. However, the central leadership did not take up the issue for discussion on Friday. It is learnt that the central leadership will once again consider whether to discuss or not the letter submitted to PB by VS as an alternative to the organisational report presented by Pinarayi Vijayan.
