ALAPPUZHA: Scripting a new chapter in its history, the CPM state conference for the first time witnessed an impressive participation of dignitaries from the cultural sphere including film stars, writers, poets, editors from media and academicians.

The 21st edition of meet saw a special area demarcated for the 200 dignitaries with state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan thanking all the special invitees in his speech on Friday.  Pinarayi expressed his gratitude to Innocent MP who was in the front row of the VIP area and Joice George MP of Idukki. He made special mention to the LDF Pathanamthitta candidate in LS polls Philipose Thomas in his speech. Actors Prathap Pothen, Mukesh, Premkumar and Sreekumar, writers T Padmanabhan, M K Sanu, Vaisakhan,  Balachandran Chullikkadu, and Ezhacheri Ramachandran, scriptwriters Unni R, Cherian Kalpakavadi, directors Ashik Abu, Priyanandanan, Lenin Rejanderan, B Unnikrishnan, Renji Panicker, Anil V Nagendran and K R Mohanan, MLAs Purushan Kadalundi, K T Jaleel, M V Shreyams Kumar and academicians K K N Kurup, B Ekbal and K N Harilal were among the invitees.

Mukesh said the CPM has set a new trend by inviting cultural leaders to the state conference.
