PATHANAMTHITTA:Two youths, who went to bathe in Achenkovil river with others at Thundamonkadavu in Kumbazha on Friday, are missing.
They are Ajith Murugan, 23 of Vaniyanparambu, Melevettipuram and Jayan, 35, of Muttam Haripad. Vinod 37, of Vinod Bhavan, Poonkavu, swam to safety.
The incident occurred when the trio went to bathe in the river which was in spate and full to its capacity, around 2.30 pm.
Jayan and Vinod are working as conductor and driver respectively of a private bus operating on the Arattupuzha-Malayalappuzha route and Ajith Murugan is an employee of another bus.
Though the Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived within minutes and started search operations, the efforts were in vain till 7 pm.
On hearing about the incident, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash and the District Collector visted the spot and gave directions for the search operation.
