Textbooks: Govt Fails to Keep Word

The state government’s assurance of printing and distribution of school textbooks by Monday, came a cropper as the work remained incomplete.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government’s assurance that the printing and distribution of school textbooks will be completed by Monday, came a cropper as the binding work of 93,000 books remained incomplete.

The books, which were printed at a private press in Thiruvananthapuram to meet the deadline, were brought to Kerala Books and Publications Society (KBPS) for the binding work on Monday.  KBPS had given a print order for 10 lakh textbooks to the private press. Incidentally, the press had returned the material for one lakh books to KBPS on July 16 after it realised that it would not be able to meet the deadline.
