THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb informed the Assembly on Monday that the printing of 75 per cent of textbooks from Classes I to X had been completed and the remaining textbooks would be printed within a week.

Replying to a submission by T V Rajesh of the CPM, Abdu Rabb said that out of the 2.3 crore textbooks that were to be printed, the printing of 1.71 crore textbooks had been completed.

“The printing of the remaining 53 lakh textbooks will be completed by this week,” Abdu Rabb added.

Denying the CPM MLA’s charge that the government deliberately delayed the printing of textbooks by over six months, the Education Minister said that the Kerala Books and Publications Society informed the Education Department of its inability to complete work in time, only in May this year.
