KOZHIKODE:In recent times, the city roads are witnessing the presence of cars from Audi AG Motors - the luxurious symbol in the automobile industry, along with budget cars. A-series and Q-series are best-selling models, of the German auto-makers, in India.
When it comes to the sedan, Audi A4 is found to be the most popular model for city folks. According to Sankaran K S - Audi Kozhikode head of sales, it is one of the best budget cars, which is much spacious when compared to other luxurious cars of this price.
The luxurious sedan, which is priced between Rs 37.63 lakh and Rs 42 lakh, is available in three variants - Premium, Premium Sport and Technology edition. While both petrol and diesel are available in premium models, the rest are exclusively diesel variants. While 1.8 L TFSI engine is used in the petrol variant, 2.0L TDI engine is used in the rest.
According to the manufacturers, it is the only sedan, of this category, having a longer wheel base. Another speciality of Audi A4 is that it is the only front-wheel drive car in this category. “The front-wheel drive offers smoothness and comfort to the passengers.
As a fully auto-car, the A4 has four drive mode selection features, in which the driver can select according to his comfortable level.
“Dynamic, Comfort, Auto and Individual are the four modes to be selected. Though the first three are preset modes, the driver can tune the ‘Individual’ according to his specification,” says Ratheesh K Nair, area sales manager, Audi Kozhikode.
Another attractive feature of the car is the air bags fixed in the cart. A total of eight bags are fixed in this luxurious sedan as protective shields. While two bags are fixed in the front cabin - one on the dash board and the other on the steering, the rest are fixed on the rear cabin and side B - C pillars.
While cast aluminium wheels with 5-arm design are used in the technology variant, a 20-spoke alloy wheel is used in the premium sport.
The other attractive elements in this sedan are Xenon plus headlight cleaning system, LED rear lights, electrically adjustable heated folding mirror and electro-mechanical parking brake and cruise control.
A four-way lumbar support and memory support seating system is set in this sedan with headroom of 1015 mm.
