Free Entry for Kids to Aqua and Pet Show

KOZHIKODE:Nearly four lakh schoolchildren can visit ‘Golden Fish 2015’, the international aqua and pet show being held at the Comtrust Ground, for free. The organisers, Theeradesa Social Welfare Society, who had to shift the expo from the beach ground, said on Wednesday that the show was aimed at giving the schoolchildren a chance to enjoy their holidays by watching the world-renowned species of birds and fish. The show, opened on April 24, will conclude on May 31. The opening time is from 11 am to 9 pm.

Ornamental fish and birds from more than 18 countries are there at the show. Aquarium-bred fish are available for sale also. Along with the fish, aquariums and other related products are also displayed for sale. The best picks of the show are: Piranha, Tiger fish (Indonesia), Red gold (England), Pulse scale gold (England), Golden Goura (Germany), Flower own (England), Asiatic Singapore Silver Carp (Germany), Eel fish (Sri Lanka), Angel fish (China), Red Oscar (China), Golden cat fish (Australia) and Grey parrot (China).

“This is for the first time that Malabar is hosting such a wide variety of rare species of birds and fish,” said organisers P V Haseeb Rahman, Abdu Nasser, Sunil Kumar, Abdul Azees and Nasser Atholi. The Macaw bird and Arapaima fish, costing Rs 3 lakh, are the attractions of the show. Chicken costing up to Rs 60,000 are also part of the show.
