Kerala CM Reaches out to JD(U)

KOZHIKODE:Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has assured JD(U) chief M P Veerendra Kumar that all contentious issues raised by his party would be resolved.

Oommen Chandy, who is on a firefighting mode to save his ministry about to enter the fifth year in less than fifty days, held talks with  Veerendra Kumar on Sunday. The discussion at the JD(U)leader’s residence in Chalappuram here should be read in the wake of reports that the party may quit the UDF.

In the meeting that lasted nearly 45 minutes, Veerendra Kumar apprised the Chandy  the views of the party’s state committee. He also demanded stern action against those responsible for his defeat in Palakkad Lok Sabha seat.

“The issues highlighted by the JD(U) will be sorted out through talks. The party raised political issues and some of them are relevant,” the Chief Minister said.

Stating that the JD(U) was given a fair treatment, the CM said KPCC president V M Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will hold talks with Veerendra Kumar on Tuesday.
